Donald J. Sherwood, MAI, SR/WA, R/W-AC

Donnie Sherwood is an independent real estate consultant and former Managing Director of the Fort Worth office of Integra Realty Resources.  Integra Realty Resources is an international real estate valuation and consulting firm with 57 national offices and one in the Caribbean.  Donnie was one of 23 offices that launched Integra in August 1999.  Donnie has been in real estate for 43 years and an active real estate appraiser and consultant in the DFW area since 1978.  Donnie served as the 1998 President of the Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter of the International Right-of-Way Association (IRWA) and was named “Professional of the Year” by the Chapter in 1998.  In 2008, he was named “Region II Professional of the Year” by the IRWA.  Region II covers Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana.  In 2009 he received the prestigious Balfour Award from the International Right of Way Association which named him Professional of the Year on an international level.

Donnie is also a past president of the Central Texas Chapter of the Appraisal Institute.  Donnie holds the MAI designation from the Appraisal Institute, the SR/WA designation from the International Right of Way Association, and is a former Fellow Designated member of the Royal Order of Chartered Surveyors in London, England.  He is also State Certified General Real Estate Appraiser in Texas and a Texas Real Estate Broker.

He teaches for both IRWA and the Appraisal Institute and is a former adjunct professor in the Finance Department at Texas Christian University.  Donnie is a Master Instructor for IRWA and is CLIMB certified.  Donnie is a graduate of Southwestern University and has a Master’s Degree in Land Economics and Real Estate from Texas A&M University.  While at Southwestern, Donnie was a member of the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity and a member of Pi Kappa Alpha.

He is the author of “Easement Valuation” published by the Southwestern Legal Foundation and has written numerous articles dealing with valuation issues.  Donnie has also written several courses for IRWA including Course 410 -“Reviewing Appraisals for Eminent Domain” and Course 804 – “Skills of the Expert Witness”.  He has qualified as an expert in real estate valuation matters in both State and Federal Court.

Donnie is a past President of the Society of Commercial Realtors and was presented the prestigious Charles D. Tandy Commercial REALTOR® Award in 2011.  This award is presented to an SCR member who best exemplifies the highest professional standards for a commercial REALTOR®.

Donnie has lived in Mansfield for 33 years and is married to Teresa Coble Sherwood, a native of Mansfield.  They will celebrate 39 years of marriage in August.  They have two children, Sam who is a graduate from Princeton University and a Senior Analyst with Integra in Washington, D.C., and Emily, a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and charter school teacher in Dallas.

Donnie has been a member of FUMC Mansfield since 1983 and has served on various committees including chairing two building committees, serving as the UMM president two times, board of trustees, administrative board chair and finance committee.  He currently teaches the Disciple Sunday School Class, serves as the Men’s Ministry Leader, plays guitar in the “Holy Pickers” and sings bass in the chancel choir.  Donnie recently served as Vice President of United Methodist Men within the Central Texas Conference.  Donnie serves on the Steering Committee and Building Committee for the Tarrant County Meals on Wheels and is a volunteer with Trinity Habitat for Humanity.  Donnie is also a past winner of Kiwanis International’s Hixson Award.

Donnie is a 1975 graduate of the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate School and graduated from the Platoon Leaders Course in Quantico, Virginia.

Donnie is a life-long Scouter with over 55 continuous years in Scouting.  He is an Eagle Scout and earned the God and Country Award as a Scout.  Donnie was awarded the Tejas District Award of Merit and was also awarded the prestigious Silver Beaver Award for service to Scouting and was recognized by his church with the God and Country Religious Award of Merit.  In 2015 Donnie was presented with the Outstanding Eagle Scout Award by NESA.  Donnie has served two terms as District Chairman, is a past Assistant Scoutmaster, and has served in numerous other volunteer positions including Vice President of the Longhorn Council.  He served as the Vice Chair of Daily Ceremonies at the 2001 and 2005 Scout Jamborees.
